About the event
Together with FMI PhD student representatives, we co-organized an information seminar about a new incubator project launched by BaselArea.Swiss this year, called “BaseLaunch“.
If you have an entrepreneurial mind, this new initiative aimed at fostering and supporting early stage start-ups could be of great interest to you.
Stephan Emmerth who is responsible for Business Development at BaseLaunch and for biotech projects at BaselArea.swiss will tell you about the challenges of translating a promising university discovery into a biotech company, in particular he will talk about some of the roadblocks ahead, including:
- negotiating a licensing deal with tech transfer offices
- establishing a development plan
- defining a financing strategy
- raising money and
- recruiting a team
During this talk, Stephan Emmerth will show you what is needed to succeed and how the new BaseLaunch accelerator and its pharma partners can help in jumpstarting a biotech venture, without diluting your shares.
Before joining i-net which is now part of BaselArea.Swiss, Stefan did his PostDoc at Roche, PhD at the FMI and studied at ETH Zurich.
The talk will be followed by a Q & A session and an apéro provided by the FMI.
For this event, please register via the FMI seminar list (click the little pen icon in the “Time/Venue” column to do so). You will then be given a visitor’s badge at the FMI main entrance before the talk, please be there 5 minutes early.
