About the event

Dr. Felix Gmünder is the senior biosafety & biosecurity expert with Basler & Hofmann Consulting Engineers Switzerland. He received his M.Sc. in microbiology and PhD in biotechnology from the ETH in Zurich. He became a trained clinical microbiologist and a registered biosafety professional in the US.

Later in his career Dr. Gmünder served the Applied Biosafety Journal as the Associate Editor and was a member of the Swiss Expert Commission for Biosafety. He collaborated with Swiss federal and cantonal regulators in biosafety and biosecurity matters. He designed and reviewed high and maximum containment labs (BSL-3 and BSL-4) in Switzerland and, living and working in Singapore for 10 years, all over South-East Asia. He developed management and hands-on training programmes for the safe operation of such labs.

When he is not evaluating and mitigating biorisks or demonstrating safe procedures and practices in labs around the globe, he spends time hiking with his wife Andrea and dog Teddy in the Appenzellerland (where he resides) or in the Engadin.

Following his presentations, you will have the chance to discuss more with Felix over the networking apéro.
