About the event
Joanne Kamens, Executive Director of Addgene, will be our main guest during our upcoming events in September hosted by TWIST, D-BSSE meets Industry, FMI and UniBasel.
Joanne Kamens has served as the Executive Director of Addgene since 2011. Addgene is a mission-driven, nonprofit dedicated to accelerating research by helping scientists around the world share reagents. She received her PhD in Genetics from Harvard Medical School then spent 15 years at BASF/Abbott, ultimately serving as Group Leader in Molecular Biology. In 2007 she joined RXi Pharmaceuticals as Senior Director of Research Collaborations. Joanne Kamens has been raising awareness of women scientists since 1998 upon realizing that an entire week had gone by at work and not one other woman had been at any meeting she attended. Joanne Kamens founded the current Boston chapter of the Association for Women in Science. Joanne Kamens was Director of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Mentoring Program for 3 years. She was recognized as one of the PharmaVoice 100 Most Inspiring Commanders and Chiefs; and one of the Forty Over 40 Women Making an Impact. She serves on a number of other nonprofit boards including as Vice Chair of the Seeding Labs BoD. She speaks widely on career development topics in person and via Webinar.
